This week we have started a new job in Honey Tye. This will be a big job requiring a lot of work, due to either a lack of maintenance, or unskilled trademen with little knowledge of period properties working on the house in the past.

Here at KE Jones & Son Builders, no job is too big or too small. This week we have been completing some of our smaller projects before we commence some really big jobs. This one was timber repairs to a front door in Preston St Mary. We spliced and installed hardwood to the front door frame and put in a new door cill.

Complete renovation at Mendlesham is coming on well. We had to replace soleplates and brickwork due to incorrect products being used previously which affected the structure of the property. We have also put in upright oak studs, new windows, savolit boarding and sheep's wool insulation.

We've had another busy week in Nayland. Retaining walls, facing bricks and drainage is now complete.

Wehave started a new job in Nayland this week, retaining a garage and outbuilding that have been affected by movement. We are installing retaining walls, gabions, block work and metal rods.  Gabions are baskets/containers filled with stones or other material that are often used to stop or slow down run-off of water, ot to stabolize slopes that have seepage problems. They can also be used purely for aesthetic purposes, or to help retain walls and embankments. Sometimes they are used as noise barriers too.

Our job in Edwardstone this week was to strengthen up existing floorboards, then lay hard board. This was followed by an insulation membrane, then another layer of ply.

We have completed structural bracing, installed soleplates, brick plinths and pointing, French drain, carried out oak repairs, installed internal lime panels and savolit boarding. We are now waiting for the temperature to go up a bit so that we can get started with the lime plastering!

We continued working on our Newton site this week. We have installed a French drain, which will help to redirect ground and surface water away from the property, thus preventing water damage to the property.
